Follow the Atlantic coastline south from Buenos Aires and discover the pristine frontier of Chubut province. The rugged Valdés Peninsula jets into the Atlantic Ocean, creating an enchanted habitat for diverse wildlife.

The wildlife reserve of Valdés Peninsula, designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1999, is a common breeding ground for sea lions, elephant seals, and southern right whales. As a possible bird enthusiast, you will be pleased to spot pelicans and cormorants among local nesting sites. While much of the area is closely protected, there are special observation points in both Punta Norte and Caleta Valdés, including comfortable lodges along the peninsula's edge. Clients can enjoy full-day excursions from Puerto Madryn, a developed seaside refuge with sandy shores and scenic bays. Here, you will find museums and information centers focused on marine flora and fauna. Punta Tombo, further south, is home to the world's largest Magellanic penguin colony. Between October and March, thousands of these comical birds fish, nest, and waddle along the pebble beaches. Visit Puerto Pirámides and spot southern right whales surfacing between August and December. As the nation's oldest Welsh settlement, the village of Gaimán invites you to relax in trademark tea houses.
