Argentina's Lake District stretches across Neuquén and down into Rio Negro, covering an area of nearly 300 miles between Lakes Aluminé and Amutui Quimei. With numerous majestic villages and national parks located along the limits of northern Patagonia, travelers find Neuquén to be a marvelous natural gem.

San Martin de los Andes is a coastal resort with peaceful plazas and a renovated waterfront with lakeside restaurants and boat rentals. Located amidst the pleasant scenery of Lanín National Park, the town's surrounding area boasts numerous streams overflowing with trout, dense forests bursting with wildlife, and a plethora of lakes populated with black-necked swans. The open steppe in the distance contains pink flamingos and wild boar roaming in their natural habitat. Beyond the weathered wooden posts, peaceful sheep farms, and pristine golf courses, it is recommended that you travel south along the splendid Route of Seven Lakes towards Bariloche, admiring the turquoise hues of Lakes Espejo and Escondido. A brief rest in Villa La Angostura is a must, where blossoming gardens and cabin-like shops provide the perfect place to unwind. This is a natural paradise for campers, hikers, and even romantic lovebirds with a passion for nature.
